Majority of Kenyans are in favor of President William Ruto’s decision to dissolve the Cabinet.
A recent survey by Tifa has revealed that 67 percent of Kenyans are in support of this action, while a mere 13 percent are against it.
The survey highlighted that the widespread approval for President Ruto’s move indicates a significant desire for government restructuring and reform.
According to TIFA, a majority of those who endorsed the Cabinet dissolution were associated with Kenya Kwanza, accounting for 90 percent of the supporters.
“The substantial backing for the dissolution of the cabinet within Kenya Kwanza members implies a perceived disparity between the cabinet’s performance and the expectations of their political base.” They said in their research.
Eighty six per cent of the Azimio supporters favored the decision.
TIFA said over half of the respondents, specifically 53 percent, expressed that none of the Cabinet Secretaries should have been retained.
“The prevailing sentiment against the retention of any Cabinet Secretaries underscores a widespread aspiration for a comprehensive overhaul of the government and introduction of new leadership.” They observed.
Those advocating for the retention of a few competent Cabinet Secretaries constituted 38 percent, whereas 8 percent believed that all CSs should have been retained.
The survey was conducted on July 16 and 17, 2024, with a sample size of 1,507 individuals.
The sample distribution across counties was proportional to their population sizes.
The research, which was carried out through telephone interviews at the household level, had a margin of error of +/- 2.52 percent.
