Cases of Cheating in the Ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be treated individually and not the whole institution.
This was revealed today by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos who affirmed any cheating cases detected shall not affect the whole institution.
Speaking on Monday during the supervision of examination papers at the Lang’ata Sub-County Headquarters office, Migos said that the Ministry will handle all the cases individually, targeting the found culprits.
He added that it would be immoderate and unfair to students to go after an entire institution for the malpractice of one individual.
“Where we find that there was some interference like it happened in Homa Bay, we will ensure that those involved are going to face the music.” The CS stated.
The CS was referring to a case in Pala Masogo Secondary School in Homabay County where ten teachers were last week slapped with a Sh2 million bond and a surety of the same amount after they were charged for examination malpractices.
The teachers were caught photocopying the 2024 KCSE Chemistry paper.
Further, the education Cabinet noted that another team of individuals who were found scamming parents on social media have been apprehended and are set to be arraigned.
Migos has urged all security agencies deployed in various examination centers to be vigilant and seal all loopholes that might lead to cheating.
