Captain Morgan has officially unveiled its latest brand extension, Captain Morgan Muck Pit, with the announcement of celebrated Kenyan artist Iyanii as the new brand ambassador.
The move signals a bold new direction for the rum brand, focused on championing creativity and the “extra ordinary” in music, fashion, and culture.
The new line was introduced at the Captain’s Yard Takeover held on Saturday, October 4th, at Rift Valley Sports Club in Nakuru.
The event featured performances from Mejja, Iyanii, and Tipsy Gee and marked the debut of Captain Morgan Muck Pit Melon Splash, the first release under the new range.
A highlight of the night was a “Battle of the Grill” showdown between “Team Iyanii Captain Morgan Muck Pit” and “Team Mejja Captain Morgan Gold,” adding an interactive twist to the launch.
Kennedy Mutula, Head of Spirits, said the Muck Pit line represents more than a flavour innovation.
“The Captain Morgan Muck Pit is about being daring, unexpected, and flavour-forward in everything you do.
Iyanii embodies this spirit, and we are excited to have him lead this new chapter,” he noted.
As part of the rollout, Captain Morgan is collaborating with Nairobi Apparel District to integrate the Muck Pit identity into local fashion and youth culture. Additional partnerships will include rapper Big Yasa and DJ Deewiz, who will help amplify the brand’s presence across Kenya.
Kanyi Kiuru, Brand Manager for Captain Morgan Muck Pit, emphasized that the extension is designed to go beyond beverages. “By partnering with visionary creators and cultural influencers, we are ensuring that Captain Morgan Muck Pit becomes not just a drink, but a movement,” she said.
The Muck Pit range is inspired by the Caribbean tradition of fermenting fruit in “muck pits” to create intensely fruity rums. Captain Morgan Muck Pit Melon Splash carries flavours of watermelon, mint, subtle smoke, and the brand’s signature spice.
At 37.5% ABV, it is recommended with Sprite, Stoney, water, or as a base for fruit punches.
