ACCA Announces Top 11 Finalists For The Strategic Business Leadership Inter-University Challenge-Kenya

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Kenya has announced the shortlist of 11 finalists of the ongoing ACCA Strategic Business Leadership Inter-University Challenge -Kenya.

The 11 selected teams, made up of four members each, emerged the best in the Challenge that attracted 263 teams from 38 participating universities and colleges drawn from 15 counties in Kenya.

The 11 finalists’ teams are:  Titans & Generations Z from Strathmore University, Royals & Alpha from the University of Nairobi and Thee Chosen Pack & Veex Strategia from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. The others are The Strategic Grandmasters from Oshwal College, Frontline Champions from Multimedia University, Still Steel from Kibabii University, The Incredibles from Egerton University and Elite from Jaffrey Institute of Professional Studies.

The competition required the students to demonstrate overall organisation leadership and senior consultancy or advisory capabilities and relevant professional skills, through the context of an integrated case study.

The key objective of Challenge is to equip students with additional practical skills in Financial Management, Leadership & Management, Strategy & Innovation and Ethics & Professionalism.

Competency-based skills include Data Digital & Technology, Management Accounting, Advisory & Consultancies, Governance Risk & Control and Stakeholder Relationship Management.

While releasing the announcement of the finalists, Steve Obuogo, Head of Kenya and Tanzania, applauded the finalists for their exemplary performance in the highly contested Challenge.

“The hard work you all put into accomplishing the professional and technical tasks is proof that the accounting fraternity will have new entrants in the market with demonstrable competency in the business leadership space,” said Steve Obuogo.

The final stage and award ceremony, scheduled to take place on February 25, 2022, will see each winning team rewarded. Each of the four team members of the top winning team will be awarded a Ksh150,000 worth scholarship that will go towards their ACCA fees, a laptop, certificate and trophy, and an ACCA gift hamper.

The first runners up from each of the four (4) team members will receive a smartphone, certificate and trophy and an ACCA gift hamper, while the second runners up will receive a smartphone, trophy and certificate, and a gift hamper.

ACCA has also partnered with eleven top employers in Kenya who will provide industrial internship and job placement for the 12 members of the top three teams.
