Africa Data Centres readies for growth in East Africa
Africa Data Centres, Africa’s largest network of interconnected, carrier and cloud-neutral data centres, is expanding its sales team to meet the surge in demand for colocation facilities in East Africa.
Africa Data Centres announces the appointment of Vimal Sharma as Africa Data Centres’ new General Manager: Sales for the Eastern Africa region. In his role, Sharma will be tasked with driving a high-performance culture and maintaining top service levels for the organisation’s key customers and stakeholders.
Before joining Africa Data Centres, Sharma was the Head of Enterprise at Internet Solutions Kenya. Prior to that, he gained experience at iWay Africa and Alcatel.
Dan Kwach, Managing Director for Africa Data Centres East Africa Region, says the expansion of the company’s sales team will lead to more in-depth client engagement across a broader customer base.
“We are the undisputed market leaders in East Africa and are growing so rapidly. Africa Data Centres has exciting plans to expand even further in the near future. It makes sense to bolster our already excellent and dynamic sales team in the region. With sales in the region booming for us, we want to ensure that we are sufficiently resourced and staffed to maintain only the highest level of customer service.”
Kwach says recent data from ResearchAndMarkets have revealed that the Africa data centre market size is expected to exceed $3 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of over 12% during the forecast period.
“The Africa data centre industry is attracting more and more attention from major global cloud service providers as there is a growing demand for cloud-based services and data centre solutions among public and private sector enterprises.”
He adds that most enterprises operating across the continent are expected to shift much of their data to the cloud within the next five years. “Several East African countries, and Kenya in particular, are already at the vanguard of driving Africa’s digital economy forward, so it made sense for us to grow our sales teams in the region.”
“Sharma’s wealth of experience in Africa and proven track record speaks volumes. We have full confidence in him, and his ability to lead the team to even greater success in the region,” Kwach says.
Sharma adds that he is excited to take on this new role at Africa Data Centres at a time when the industry is on the brink of a boom and the company is strategically poised for growth.
“Africa Data Centres uses the best technologies, intellectual property, and deep industry knowledge to deliver co-location facilities that help customers streamline operations and reduce overhead costs. I am looking forward to leveraging all of these to accelerate the growth of our local operation and promote even greater levels of excellence within the sales team,” concludes Sharma.
