A section of Nairobi Kenya Kwanza MCAs has called for unity amid the recent rise in political temperatures.
The City MCAs who are allied to governor Sakaja emphasized that the city should be in order and not go back to what was witnessed during the 2023 Azimio protests and the 2024 Gen Z protests where the city was not in order.
“We call upon the president and his deputy to call to order the Kenya Kwanza government. Nairobi is cosmopolitan and we bear the brand when it comes to political stability. We should not go back to what it was during the 2023 Azimio protests and the 2024 Gen Z protests.” Minority Leader Anthony Kiragu stated.
They called for sobriety among the top UDA leaders urging them to work together.
“We are calling for sobriety and toning down whatever has been happening around.” He added.
This comes a few days after a new rivalry between governor Sakaja and the deputy president brewed up after the eviction notice to Wakulima traders.
Last week Friday while touring the CBD, the deputy president called upon governor Sakaja to respect his promise of letting traders do their business and not disrespect them.
This comes as over the weekend, the political rift between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his boss William Ruto widened after Gachagua warned Ruto to stop impeachment plans or face the consequences.
Speaking at PEFA church in Thika yesterday, the DP warned Ruto to tread carefully.
He cautioned against the return of politics of betrayal at the expense of running the government and delivering on the many promises that Kenya Kwanza gave in their five-year timeframe.
“I want to ask my brother the president to be very cautious, do the right thing, and keep our house together. Let us not be disruptive and not reintroduce the politics of betrayal.” Gachagua said.
“Any attempt to disrupt the mandate to serve the people will have serious implications in our politics and that is not healthy for the country, government, and leadership so let us be careful, cautious reasonable, and do the right thing by respecting the will of the people through a direct vote of electing a president and a deputy. Let us not try to carry their mandate and take it upon ourselves to interfere with the will of the people.” He added.
Gachagua stated that two years have passed since the current administration was voted into office and a lot of work has stalled including roads, water, electricity, and schools, which he said are important to the electorate.
