Equity Afia received the Special Judges Awards for Product Innovation during this year’s highly contested Think Business Banking Awards.
The award was given in recognition of innovative products developed outside the banking sector, which continue to have a major impact on the lives of existing and potential bank customers.
In the category, the judges looked for breakthrough products developed through cutting edge design, research and development that have redefined the market by improving usability, access and value to the customer.
Established in 2015 under the Equity Group Foundation’s health pillar, Equity Afia operates on a sustainable, integrated health model that trains and monitors a network of clinician entrepreneurs to provide standardized, quality health care throughout the country.
With a vision of championing affordable and accessible healthcare in Africa and a mission to provide access to inclusive quality healthcare to enable its people lead productive lives, Equity Afia’s goal is to increase uptake of comprehensive private health insurance and expand access to health services, including HIV care and treatment.
So far, Equity Afia has opened five health facilities in Ongata Rongai, Thika, Buruburu, Kawangware and Kayole with over 40 trained clinical staff.
