Police officers in Ngata, Nakuru County are investigating the suspected murder of a farm manager.
Reports indicate the manager was killed during an alleged confrontation with a group of people who had invaded a disputed piece of land in the Menengai area.
The land is in the Ngata area and has been at the center of dispute for long.
The manager had called the owner of the farm and informed him that about 20 people had invaded the farm on Tuesday at about 2 am and were demolishing structures therein.
The group had arrived aboard two vehicles while armed with crude weapons, police said.
He rallied the security and farm employees, leading to a confrontation that turned deadly.
Police officers responded to the scene and established that the piece of land in question had been subject to a longstanding dispute, with a pending court visit for fact-finding before a ruling.
During the altercation, the farm manager was hit on the head with a stone and rushed to Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The deceased’s body was transferred to the Nakuru Municipal Annex mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police were looking for the group for questioning and possible prosecution with murder.
According to police officers in Nakuru County, there has been a rise in cases of violent confrontations over land.
The trend is on the rise and officials blame land grabbers eyeing prime land in the area.
Most of the cases are pending under probe.
