Former Kisumu East MP dies at Kenyatta Hospital
Former Kisumu West Member of Parliament Kenn Nyagudi has passed away after battling a long illness.
Nyagudi was receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital private wing when he died yesterday evening.
His death was confirmed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula who condoled with his family.
Wetang’ula revealed that he interacted with the late former legislator during his time as foreign affairs minister.
“I send my heartfelt sympathies to the family of former Kisumu Town West MP Kenn Nyagudi. I was privileged to have interacted with him when I was the Foreign Affairs Minister. He passed away this evening while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital. May his family be consoled and find comfort in the Lord’s arms,” Wetang’ula condoled.
The deceased clinched the seat of Kisumu Town West Member of Parliament during the 2004 by-elections which were held after the demise of Joab Omino who passed in January of that year.
Olago served for four years before he was replaced by Olago Aluoch in the 2007 elections.
In 2013, the late former MP vied for the Kisumu Central seat but he lost to the current MP Ken Obura.
His demise comes former Baringo North Member of Parliament Willy Rotich Kamurem also passed away late last month while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
Kamuren who was also a businessman was a key political figure in the politics of Baringo County.
The late MP begun his political career in 1963 as he was the first elected MP for Baringo East now Tiaty Su-county under the Kenya African Democratic Union (KADU) ticket.
Kamuren was later nominated to Parliament in 1983 and served as elected MP for Baringo North Constituency from 1988 to 1997 under the Kenyan African National Union (KANU).
