The leadership of the Kenya Communications Sports Organisation (KECOSO), alongside Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board Chairman Hon. Caleb Kositany, has called for renewed government support to restore the prominence of the KECOSO Games.

During a courtesy meeting with Principal Secretary for the State Department of Sports, Eng. Peter Tum, discussions focused on reviving participation in the inter-ministry sports event and addressing key challenges threatening its continuity.

Hon. Kositany reaffirmed his commitment to restoring KECOSO to its former glory, emphasizing its role in fostering unity among employees of state corporations while promoting physical and mental wellness. “KECOSO Games are more than just competitions—they serve as a platform for strengthening relationships and encouraging healthy living across ministries and parastatals,” he stated.

Eng. Tum assured KECOSO of the government’s support, acknowledging the importance of the games in talent development and public sector cohesion. “We understand the significance of these games in enhancing teamwork and fitness. My office will collaborate with KECOSO to resolve issues such as financial constraints and declining membership,” he noted.

This engagement follows previous discussions between KECOSO officials and Hon. Kositany, where concerns over reduced participation were raised.

Despite having 13 member organizations, only five entities took part in the 2024 edition held in Nakuru. The government now hopes to reinvigorate the competition and encourage wider participation in future editions.
