JKUAT students protest seeking justice for their murdered comrade

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) students blocked the Thika Super Highway at Juja after taking to the streets today to protest the mysterious death of their colleague Denzel Omondi.
The third-year student was among thousands of protesters who stormed Parliament during the Finance Bill protests on June 25 but went missing only for his body to be discovered floating 10 days later at Mashimoni quarry, Juja.

The visibly angry students marched to the streets, interfering with the flow of traffic along the busy Superhighway.
They sang anti-President William Ruto songs while alluding to Denzel’s case being another extrajudicial killing.

The students were captured marching along the highway’s footpaths, except for a spontaneous moment when they poured onto the road amid screams and whistles.
Some students also moved around the varsity, encouraging their comrades to join in what they termed a march for justice.
An autopsy conducted on the 23-year-old student’s body revealed that he succumbed after drowning, with bruises visible on the back of his head and legs.
His family and human rights groups have dismissed a post-mortem report revealing the cause of death to be drowning.
They insist he was murdered.
Amnesty International Kenya and other human rights organizations have demanded a thorough investigation into Omondi’s death.
Denzel went missing on June 27, two days after joining other young protesters who invaded the National Assembly in the heat of the anti-finance bill mass action demonstrations.
At the peak of the demos, the student shared a video of himself inside Parliament.
