Police in Kasarani, Nairobi County have launched investigations into the death of a 30-year-old woman whose body was found decomposing in a house.
According to a police report seen by Corporate Watch, the 30-year-old woman had been missing for days before she was found decomposed in her house.
The body was discovered yesterday evening long after she had died.
Neighbours along Lumumba Drive complained of a foul smell from Mary Njoki’s house prompting them to alert police.
They said they had not seen her for up to four days.
When Police officers visited the scene they established it was locked from inside with a padlock.
The police said they broke into the house and found the body half naked on the bed and decomposed.
Nairobi area regional commander Adamson Bungei said the cause of her death was not immediately established.
The police were informed the woman lived alone in the house and had minimal interaction with her neighbours.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.
