A family in Nyakach Kisumu County is mourning the tragic loss of their three–year–old boy who lost his life yesterday evening after drowning in an open borehole as he was playing at Bodi market.
The minor was in the company of other kids as they played when he accidentally fell inside the borehole.
Upper Nyakach Assistant County Commissioner Dawin Orina who confirmed the incident says the boy was in the company of his mum who is a trader at the market.
Orina says locals noticed his body floating and it was later retrieved and taken to Nyabondo Mission Hospital mortuary.
Elsewhere in Eastleigh, a boy aged eight years died after falling from the eighth floor of their apartment in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The minor was playing with friends at the balcony when the incident happened.
He was rushed to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police and the family said the boy slipped off the apartment and fell off landing on his head.
