President William Ruto has led the nation in mourning the passing away of Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi.
In his tribute to the late MP, the head of state termed Malulu a believer in equal opportunities who was diligent, focused, and devoted to public service.
Ruto added that the late legislator will best be remembered for his passion for education.
“The death of my friend and colleague, Malulu Injendi saddens me. Our prayers are with the family, friends, and the people of Malava at this painful time,” the president said in his tribute.
“He was a towering leader who selflessly served the people of Malava Constituency. A believer in equal opportunities, diligent, focused, and devoted to public service. He will best be remembered for his passion for education,” he added.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua termed the late legislator as a calm and collected leader with community interests at heart.
“He was a deeply religious man with community interests at heart. His passing on today has left a big gap in his family and the people of Malava Constituency,” Gachagua said in his tribute.
Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu said his late colleague was a great man and an educationist who had the community interest at heart.
“We’ve lost a great man. May his soul rest in eternal peace, “Makali Mulu mourned and commemorated the life of his colleague Malulu Injendi.
“Injendi was a dedicated and selfless leader who tirelessly served his constituents with passion and commitment. His contributions to the development of Malava and his advocacy for better governance will be remembered for years to come,” Busia Senator and activist Okiya Omutata stated.
The death of Malulu was confirmed yesterday evening by the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula who said the MP passed away while receiving treatment at the Agha Khan hospital in Nairobi.
In his tribute, Wetang’ula termed Injendi as a man of integrity, dedication, and unwavering service.
“Injendi was more than a leader; he was a man of integrity, dedication, and unwavering service. His passion for education and the sugar industry reflected his deep commitment to the well-being of all Kenyans. His wisdom, kindness, and steady leadership will be profoundly missed. We have lost not just a leader, but a remarkable man whose impact will be felt for generations,” the speaker said in his tribute.
Until his demise, Injendi was the Lawmaker for Malava Constituency and Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education & Research.
He spent over a decade in Parliament championing the causes that mattered most to his people as he was in his third term.
His death came as a shock as a few days ago, leaders led by the Kakamega County governor dismissed rumors that the MP was dead as they assured his constituents that he was in high spirits and doing well in the ICU.
