Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested a man receiving Sh1.5million bribe from an applicant seeking the Chief Executive Officer position at South Nyanza Sugar Company (Sony).

The applicant reported the matter to EACC and Kipruto was arrested in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) a few minutes after receiving the bribe.
“Mark Kipruto was arrested yesterday after he had requested and received a Sh1.5 million bribe from a complainant claiming to have been sent by the PS as an inducement to assist him to secure the CEO position at Sony Sugar which was advertised last month.” EACC said in a statement.
“The suspect was arrested in the Nairobi CBD after pocketing the cash after the victim reported the complaint to the Commission.” The statement added.
The suspect spent the night at Kilimani police station and was today morning transferred to EACC police station to help the EACC detectives as they proceed with investigations.
