The pronunciation by the ODPP comes after Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested the Principal Prosecution Counsel of the Kilgoris, Narok County office while receiving a down payment for a bribe he had negotiated.
He was nabbed while receiving part of the negotiated money i.e. Sh40, 000 from Sh50,000 which he had requested from the businessman.
“Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested Japheth Ouko Mayore Isaboke, the Principal Prosecution Counsel in charge of ODPP Kilgoris, on allegations of soliciting a Kes50,000 bribe from a businessman in exchange for fast-tracking a court case. The amount was negotiated downwards to Kes40,000,” EACC said in a statement.
The businessman refused to pay the Ksh 40,000 bribe and reported the matter to EACC.
The Commission then conducted an operation that led to the arrest of the suspect yesterday while receiving Shs20,000 as part of the bribe.
