People’s Liberation Party to be unveiled tomorrow after Narc Kenya rebrand

Martha Karua is set to unveil her rebranded People’s Liberation Party (PLP) tomorrow ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The veteran human rights advocate has announced that the party expects over 5,000 delegates during the unveiling.

According to Karua, the rebranding of Narc Kenya to the People’s Liberation Party is aimed at resonating with Gen Z voters who are the majority adding that PLP will become a formidable political force, especially after last year’s anti-government protests.

The party has also adopted a new slogan Unite and Liberate symbolized with a purple rose and mirroring red petals which were a symbol of Narc Kenya.

“Young Kenyans have demonstrated that they will not be ignored. Our mission is to unite and liberate,” She stated.

The former Constitutional Affairs Minister is hoping to capitalize on the Gen Z voters who are the majority and their traditional rejection of tribal politics advocating for accountability and governance reforms.

Karua hopes to harness the momentum, positioning herself and the party as champions of change and empowerment for the youth.

Karua says Narc Kenya which was formed almost twenty years ago had become unfamiliar with the youthful generation hence the need to revitalize and affirm their commitment to a democratic ideal through rebranding to PLP.

The unveiling is expected to be attended by former ousted deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka signaling a realignment to form a strong opposition ahead of the 2027 General elections.

The unveiling comes days after Gachagua, who promised to unveil his party, has hinted at an alliance with Karua and Kalonzo.

NARC Kenya fully known as National Rainbow Coalition–Kenya was formed in 2005 after the defeat of the government-sponsored draft constitution.

It was formed by the NARC (National Rainbow Coalition) loyal members of the then government led by the late President Mwai Kibaki.

Martha Karua took charge of NARC Kenya in 2009 after she resigned from the Kibaki government and she ran for presidential elections with the Party’s ticket in the 2013 General Elections.
