President William Ruto will today begin a three-day tour of his North Rift backyard to inspect and launch various projects.
The tour comes amid various claims that the Ruto-led administration has not fulfilled its pre-election promises to Kenyans.
The head of state will traverse the Kerio Valley which has been facing banditry cases and has been recently experiencing renewed peace with the ongoing Maliza Uhalifu Operations.
The president is expected to commission various water projects and dams during his visit.
A program released indicates the three-day tour will cover Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans-Nzoia, and Uasin Gishu.
Today, the president will tour Kerio Valley Technical Training Institute, Kerio Valley KMTC, Kapcherop TTI, and also the launch of Kapkundul-Kapyego-Kamelei Road.
He is also expected to issue title deeds in the region.
Still today, Ruto will be in the Cherengany area in Trans Nzoia for the launch of the Kitale-Kapenguria-Morpus Road.
Tomorrow, Ruto will start the extensive tour of Uasin Gishu County by first visiting Kapseret Constituency where he will commission Kimuri Dam and Ngeria TTI.
He will then head to the Kesses constituency where he will visit Kimuri Dam, Ngeria TT1, Karita Dam, and then the Chebor last mile electricity connectivity project.
On Saturday the President will still spend the day in Uasin Gishu, especially in his home constituency of Turbo where he will tour Turbo Sub-county Hospital and then Turbo TTI.
The tour will end in Soy Constituency where Ruto is expected to visit several projects.
Ahead of the visit, President Ruto’s team led by Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Erick Mugaa, and a multi-agency team has been on the ground to prepare for the head of state visit.
Speaking in Eldoret Mugaa stated that the president will commission a flagship of projects for the benefit of North Rift residents.
“President William Ruto is set to commence a three-day development tour today. He is expected to commission projects ranging from road infrastructure to dams,” The CS said.
Despite the North Rift region having heavily voted for the Kenya Kwanza government, there has been disquiet over the slow pace of implementation of projects by the national government.
Last weekend while attending a prayer meeting in Elgeyo Marakwet, the residents pleaded with President Ruto to fulfill his election pledges.
According to the residents, by fulfilling his promises, they will feel part of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
