Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Association of Public Relations and Communications Management firms (APReCoM), that will see the two institutions collaborate in execution of their related mandate in communication management and engagement.

Dr. Wilfred Marube, PRSK President and Mr. Okoth Obado, APReCoM Chairman and Redhouse Public Relations managing director signed the MoU.

Under the three-year MoU, the two institutions will ensure joint advocacy campaigns and support for the passage of the pending Kenya Institute of Public Relations and Communication management Bill, enforcement of the code of conducts for members, joint support of the implementation of activities and trainings through which PRSK members can earn continuous professional development (CPD) points as well as joint marketing of PRSK activities and programmes.

Commenting on the partnership on behalf of PRSK, Dr. Marube said,” This partnership seeks to identify, explore and collaborate in activities and programmes that we think will benefit the development and support of the Public Relations and Communication Industry”.

On his part and on behalf of APReCoM, Mr. Obado said, “The signing of the MoU signifies intended collaboration to enhance professional capacity building in terms of exchange opportunities, and more holistically, ensure the continuing standardisation of the industry best practice”.

The partnership will also ensure the two institutions jointly support the PRSK CPD programmes by ensuring 50 per cent uptake by agencies and consultancies. The partnership will also support the recruitment drive to enroll PRSK membership of all employees in the relevant departments within firms and consultancies. And as part of the collaboration, PRSK will also recognize and endorse APReCoM training programmes to ensure that the Association members are eligible to earn CPD points.
