Family Bank through the Family Group Foundation has commissioned 352 bright students from vulnerable households to join form 1. This is following sponsorship from the Tufuzu na Elimu programme kitty by The Family Group Foundation which towards the end of last year set aside KES 90 million on scholarships for students joining high school this year as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
The scholarships, to students from 34 counties and 66 constituencies will cater for full Tuition Fees, School Uniform and Boarding Fees. The Scholarship Beneficiaries will also receive soft-skills training through annual Mentorship Workshops and Academic Boot Camps.
In attendance during the commissioning event was the Ministry of Education Director General Elyas Abdi Jillaow, Family Bank Chairman Dr. Wilfred Kiboro, CEO Designate Nancy Njau and The Family Group Foundation Board Chairman Dr. Francis Muraya and Board Directors Muema Muindi and Annie Muya.
“Over the last 12 years, we have been intentional in ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all by impacting the very society we operate in. Through the Tufuzu na Elimu programme, we have impacted more than 1200 beneficiaries countrywide and invested over KES 300 million in the education sector”, said Family Bank CEO Designate Nancy Njau.
Since the inception of The Tufuzu na Elimu programme, The Family Group Foundation has invested over KES 250 million in the education sector and has provided scholarships to over 1,000 students. As a result, the programme has witnessed and continue to witness a 95 per cent transition of students to tertiary institutions.
