KEPSHA Chairman dies after in a fatal accident in Athi River

Donholm Primary School head teacher and Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association (KEPSHA) national chairman Johnson Nzioka is dead.

Nzioka passed away yesterday evening in a fatal accident in the Athi River area along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.

Reports indicate that the Head teacher’s vehicle rammed into a trailer as he tried to swerve and avoid a head-on collision with a vehicle that was oncoming.

The KEPSHA chairperson died on the spot.

Besides his roles at KEPSHA, Nzioka was also a council member at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

In his condolence message to the family of Nzioka and the teaching fraternity; the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Collins Oyuu mourned Nzioka as an outstanding leader who played a significant role in redefining KEPSHA’s leadership.

“Nzioka was an exemplary outstanding leader with very distinct diplomatic leadership skills that helped redefine the KEPSHA leadership to a world-class teachers association at a time when Education management in the country was undergoing strategic reforms,” The SG said in his statement.

Oyuu noted that Nzioka stood out as a great mobilizer for head teachers’ activities and a negotiator for their welfare during his short stint at the helm of KEPSHA.

“He has been a regular contributor to teachers’ well-being generally. He will be remembered for his soft but forthright speaking especially while brokering peace among his members,” Oyuu added.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino whom Donholm Primary is in his constituency has also condoled Nzioka’ s family after the tragic accident.

“I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Family of Johnson Nzioka; Headteacher of Donholm Primary School whose car rammed into a trailer along Mombasa Road. Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Rest in Peace my friend,” The MP condoled.
