The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) launched a surprise raid at City Hall, targeting alleged corruption within the establishment.
Fredrick Ochanda, an official from the Nairobi City County Planning and Development Approval Department, was swiftly apprehended during the operation.
Ochanda, known to be closely associated with Osman Khalif and Governor Sakaja, was found at his residence in pajamas and taken into custody by EACC agents.
Documents pertaining to the investigation were confiscated during the raid.
Tom Achar, is evading authorities and is currently in hiding his phone switched off.
Ochanda’s arrest sheds light on suspected irregularities in the approval processes overseen by Nairobi County government officials.
It is alleged that Ochanda, along with Khalif and Governor Sakaja, played a significant role in approving developments that contravened established regulations.
The gravity of the situation is underscored by the anticipated arrest of additional individuals, including Chief of Staff David Njoroge.
Sakaja’s involvement in chairing certain technical committee meetings related to approvals raises further questions about the extent of complicity within City Hall.
As investigations unfold, the raid serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against corruption in public institutions.
