Faith Odhiambo elected Law Society of Kenya president

Faith Odhiambo has been elected the 51st president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

Results released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), she garnered a total of 3113 votes against Peter Wanyama’s 2165. Carolyne Kamende came third with 888.

The race for the presidency was between five candidates: Peter Wanyama, Carolyne Kamende, Faith Odhiambo, Harriet Mboche and Kipkoech Bernhard Ng’etich.

Fourth placed Bernard Ng’etich managed 833 votes, while Njoki Mboce got 511 votes.

Odhiambo led in all the 6 polling stations at the Milimani Law Courts, and regions like in Nyeri, Homa bay, Nanyuki, Kisii, Machakos, Kisumu and Nakuru.

A total of 7,521 out of the 15,715 registered members cast their vote in the just concluded LSK elections. However, 7510 of the votes cast were declared valid.

During her campaign period, Odhiambo underscored her commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that the council remains a strong defender of legal principles.

Odhiambo entered the election day with the blessings of ODM leader Raila Odinga and secretary general Edwin Sifuna who endorsed her for the seat.

Odhiambo served as Vice President of the society ahead of the polls becomes President of the Council, succeeding Eric Theuri.
