Laikipia East residents will now have easy access to the government after Huduma Centre opened its 53rd branch in the area. The new branch comes in the Makutano area as Huduma Kenya celebrates the 10th anniversary of its inception in 2013.
The Huduma Kenya programme was created to facilitate the provision of a wide array of government services in a single unit dubbed Huduma Centre.
Huduma Kenya merges numerous related public services within one location, possibly on the same floor so that Kenyans can easily access them.
The first Huduma Center Nairobi was launched in 2013 by former president Uhuru Kenyatta alongside then-deputy William Ruto at the Teleposta Building in Nairobi.
Some of the services offered at the centres include the issuance of driver’s licences, national identity cards, and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
Other are National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) registration and claims, HELB – Student Loan Application and Repayments, Registration of Welfare Groups, issuance of police abstracts, single business permit and stamp duty assessment among others.
Huduma Centre has undergone various transformations since Moses Kuria took over as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service.
On Monday, a new beginning was marked as judiciary services went live in six pilot Huduma Centres. They include Nairobi GPO, City Square, Makadara, Kibra, Eastleigh and Kiambu. CS Kuria stated that the judicial desks at the centres will be manned by Judiciary staff.
Some of the judicial services to be offered at Huduma Centre are filing of new civil cases, filing documents of existing cases and requests for and issuance of summons to enter an appearance, notice to appear in divorce cases, extracted court orders, decrees, certified and uncertified proceedings, copy of ruling/judgment.
