Kenya is focused on improving Investment ties with Canada-CS Miano

Trade and Investment Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has said Kenya is Keen on improving the business environment with close collaborations with the private sector.

The CS said the ministry is continuing to negotiate for the expansion of market access through various bilateral, regional, continental, and multilateral agreements.

Miano was speaking during the opening of the second form for the Canada-Africa business forum stating that Kenya is the gateway to Africa and that choosing Nairobi as the venue for this 2nd Canada–Africa Business Forum was the best strategy.

With the ever-growing and modern infrastructure, the young, skilled, and hardworking human resource, and the beautiful tourist, social, and cultural diversity, Kenya is indeed the place to invest.” Miano said.

The second forum of the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business was yesterday inaugurated by President William Ruto seeking to foster bilateral trade relations and investment opportunities between Africa and Canada.

In the first edition of the Conference, key themes addressed included renewable energy, agriculture, technology, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

The sessions featured expert panels discussing market trends, regulatory frameworks, and investment incentives, providing valuable insights for attendees seeking to expand their business ventures or establish new partnerships.

Canada has been one of Kenya’s big trade partners with Kenyan exports to Canada estimated at US$18.71 Million in 2022, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade.

The program today will be visiting sites in Nairobi.

With Kenya and Canada sharing a commitment to economic growth and sustainable development, the conference highlights the importance of leveraging each country’s strengths and resources to drive innovation and address common challenges.
