Moi University bans academic trips until after Easter Holiday

Moi University has announced the temporary suspension of all academic trips until after the Easter holiday following a bus accident involving 65 students.

The University Vice-Chancellor Isaac Kosgey announced the decision via the university’s social media platforms.

“At approximately 9:50 a.m. this morning, our University Bus KCK 583U, carrying 65 students from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Kiswahili, was involved in a non-fatal traffic accident at Kimende area on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway during an academic trip.” The statement by the Vice-Chancellor read in part.

“As a precautionary measure, all academic trips have been suspended until after the Easter Holidays.” Added.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Kimende area on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway and fortunately, there were no casualties or fatalities reported, and all students were safe.

Alternative transportation has been arranged to bring the students back to the main campus.

Kosgey emphasized the importance of road safety during the Easter Holidays, urging drivers and road users to exercise caution.
