Stakeholders Gear Up for Eldoret’s City Status with MSME Exhibition and Conference

The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) of Uasin Gishu County, in collaboration with the County Government, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Kenya Association of Manufacturers, and the private sector, including the Shangwe Jua Kali Association and the Jua Kali Federation, convened at the Uasin Gishu County Chambers to discuss the upcoming conferment of Eldoret as Kenya’s fifth city.

The meeting focused on planning events and activities surrounding this milestone, particularly the MSME Exhibition and Conference scheduled for August 1-2, 2024. MSEA and the Uasin Gishu County Government will lead the organization of this significant event.

MSEA has successfully mobilized at least 100 micro and small enterprises (MSEs) from various sectors to showcase products made in Uasin Gishu County. The exhibition aims to highlight the diverse and innovative products of the region’s thriving MSME community.

Eldoret’s new city status is expected to significantly boost competitive opportunities for businesses, connecting over ten counties within and beyond the North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB). This strategic positioning will foster economic growth and provide a robust platform for local enterprises to flourish.

The conferment of Eldoret as a city marks a pivotal moment for the region, promising enhanced economic prospects and a strengthened business environment for the entire community.
