Three businessmen were lynched by a mob in Bondo, Siaya County after they were ambushed while slaughtering a cow suspected to have been stolen in a bush.

Reports by the Utonga village assistant chief Aluoch Chacha indicate that the three had stolen the cow from one of the villagers in Okanda, West Sakwa identified as Monica Olulo.

The trio were ambushed by the mob who immediately subjected them to a beating and they all succumbed to injuries in the process.

“The three who were businessmen were found by members of the public slaughtering a cow belonging to Monica Olulo, a resident in the village of Utonga.” Aluoch explained.

The assistant chief reported that there was a Tuktuk in the bush which is suspected to have been used to transport the trio and the cow and they believe it was meant to transport the meat to their expected destination.

“The Tuktuk was presumably on standby to ferry the meat once the slaughtering process was over. They may also have used it to get to the bush.” Chacha said.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Bondo Sub-County mortuary awaiting an autopsy while the Tuktuk was towed to Bondo police station.
