A groundbreaking partnership between Yusudi and the Government of Germany is set to revolutionize employment of women in sales in Kenya’s green economy, giving them tools to excel in an industry that’s on the rise.
The “Women in Sales for a Green Future” project, focuses on improving sales employment opportunities for women and youth, equipping them with specialized sales skills tailored to promote green and sustainable solutions, addressing the urgent need for environmental stewardship in business.
The partnership is part of the Employment promotion for women for the green transformation in Africa – WE4D project which aims to improve employment and economic situation of women in companies that are driving the green transformation.
WE4D is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in partnership with the European Union and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).
It is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
This exciting program marks a significant milestone in their commitment to empowering women and fostering sustainable business practices.
This initiative aims to ensure that women play a vital role in Kenya’s green revolution by targeting three critical areas including: Business capacity development (labour demand)- Enhancing the sales capabilities of green and greening businesses to create more employment opportunities.
Training sessions focused on gender inclusiveness were also purposed to challenge the barriers that women face in becoming top sales talent for businesses.
Women & youth training and mentorship (labour supply): offering specialized sales training, mentorship from industry experts and professional development to women and youth, ensuring they are well-prepared for roles in the green economy.
Job matching: Bridging the gap between skilled workers and employers, facilitating meaningful employment connections.
Additionally, Gender assessment and training as well as fostering diversity and inclusion within the workplace are key components of the project.
The project targets green and greening companies seeking to enhance their sales teams and structures, recent graduates and unemployed youth, and women looking to grow their sales careers in the green sector.
“Through this partnership, we aim to create a ripple effect that inspires other organizations and individuals to prioritize sustainability and inclusivity in their own practices. We are excited about the potential of this collaboration and are confident that it will make a lasting difference in the lives of many women and the broader community,” the companies stated in a press statement to media stations.
