Police in Ndere, Siaya County are investigating an incident where a man was stabbed to death during a funeral vigil.
This fatal incident is reported to haved happened after two groups clashed over unknown reasons.
The deceased identified as Dulton Odhiambo was stabbed in the head and rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The groups had attended a funeral meeting of a man killed by a mob on suspicion of being a thief when the clashes broke out, police said.
No arrest has been made so far.
In the second incident, a 4-year-old boy has drowned to death in Bondo, Siaya County.
The incident sent a wave of grief across South Sakwa Ward as locals struggled to come to terms with the boy’s untimely death.
Confirming the incident, Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the boy slipped into the dam located in Kopolo area.
Stephen Otieno, a brother to the deceased told the police that his younger brother, who had accompanied others to fetch water, drowned in the dam.
“The pre-primary 1 pupil at a local primary school was allegedly playing with the others. He fell into the waters before drowning as his playmates watched helplessly.” the County commander said.
The boy’s body was retrieved from the dam by members of the public and moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
