Uasin Gishu Governor Chelilim Praises County Service Centre for Boosting Revenue Streams
By Shadrack Nyakoe
Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Chelilim has praised the County Service Centre for streamlining revenue collection and achieving a record Sh1.4 billion in own source revenue.
This Centre serves as a one-stop shop for all county services, including payment of parking fees, land rates, business licensing, county house rent, advertising permits, and environmental permits.
Governor Chelilim commended the Centre for its role in saving time for clients and ensuring satisfactory service delivery.
The Sh1.4 billion collected marks the first time Uasin Gishu has reached this target through the Controller of Budget, aiding the administration in empowering, inspiring, and transforming residents’ lives through good governance, innovation, and inclusivity for sustainable development.
The increased revenue will significantly contribute to reducing the wage bill and enhancing service delivery in health, infrastructure, and other key areas.
County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance and Economic Planning, Micah Rogony, highlighted that the ultra-modern one-stop shop has greatly improved efficiency, allowing residents to focus on other activities.
The CECM set an average service time of 2 minutes, with plans to further improve this efficiency. Dr. Chelilim emphasized that the enhanced revenue would not only address the wage bill challenges but also create employment opportunities and improve services for citizens in areas such as health and infrastructure.
