Police in Narok County have launched investigations into an incident where an enraged police officer opened fire inside a wines and spirits joint after his phone was confiscated for failing to settle a Sh 2,220 bill.

According to a police report seen by Corporate watch, the officer identified as Dennis Imai visited JJ Wines and Spirits at around 6 pm on Sunday when  Jackline Jemeli immediately snatched his phone for the previous beer bill.

“The said police officer left the beer den only to re-emerge 30 minutes later in full uniform and armed with a rifle in company of unknown bodaboda rider.” The report stated in part.

The officer demanded to have his phone back and when the attendant was not complying he opened one round of fire before the boda-boda rider whisked him away.

The officer took away the spent cartridges with him as efforts by officers who visited the scene to recover it proved futile.

No one was injured during the incident.
