This will be the 12th store by Carrefour as it continues to cater to the growing need of modern retail stores in Kenya 200 jobs created for the local community as a result of new store opening New store serves the residents of Westlands, Parklands and the larger Thigiri area The store will also create opportunity for local suppliers and manufacturers to directly supply good and services to the new store.
Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in Kenya, has announced the official opening of its 12th store in Nairobi at the Westgate Mall in Westlands.
The new store will serve residents of Westlands, Parklands and the larger Thigiri area, bringing services closer to customers by adopting the Carrefour Market model. Through this model, Carrefour will provide customers with a selected assortment of essentials along with light household items and small electrical appliances that are the most relevant to customers’ everyday life.
Speaking at the official opening, Franck Moreau, Country Manager of Carrefour Kenya at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said “As we continue to grow and expand our presence in Nairobi, we remain committed to addressing our customers’ needs effectively by offering convenient and unbeatable shopping experiences. Our Carrefour Market model underscores our customer-centric approach, allowing us to serve our communities by providing them with a store that caters to their everyday shopping needs closer to their place of residence.”
The Westgate store will also introduce several digital services. The shopping delivery, or “Valet trolley” will give customers the chance to shop and have their goods ready for collection at the store. Meanwhile, the Click & Collect service will allow customers to shop online and then drop by the mall to have their shopping brought to the trunk of their car.
Importantly, the opening of the store will boost the growth of Nairobi County’s economy through direct and indirect employment of over 200 Nairobi residents. This aligns with Carrefour’s dedication to developing local talent and investing in local careers as much as the growth of its industry.
The store will also create opportunity for local suppliers and manufacturers to directly supply good and services to the new store.
The Westgate store becomes one of 12 stores operated by Carrefour in the country. This follows the recent Carrefour openings in Kwale County at Diani Centre Point Plaza and at the Nextgen mall, along Mombasa road in Nairobi.
