Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has issued an urgent call for collective action to address conflicts and youth unemployment in Africa.

Mudavadi while highlighting the dire issues confronting the continent, provided a harsh picture of the demographic pressures facing Africa.

He said there is a need to give employment creation, digitization, and constructive involvement of the growing youth population in the region a first priority.

PCS Mudavadi has expressed concern over the trend of capital flowing towards conflict zones saying there is need for scrutiny and international partnerships.

The recently concluded IDA summit in Nairobi aims to raise between $120 billion to $130 billion to support 75 International Development Association (IDA) countries, 40 of which are in Africa. This is a higher target compared to the Dakar initiative in 2023 which targeted to raise $90 billion .

As active participants in development activities in Africa, Mudavadi asked the Nordic Countries to use their clout and voting strength in institutions like the African Development Fund and the African Development Bank to mobilise vital resources.

Nordic-African Foreign Ministers Meeting serves as a platform for high-level political discussions between Africa and the Nordic Region. The meetings were first held in 2001 and are now held annually in alternating years by Nordic and African nations.
