CS Julius Ogamba promises full transition for 2024 KCSE students

All candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2024 will be cleared to join the various higher learning education institutions.

Releasing the 2024 exams today, education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba said this in the Mantra of leaving no one behind.

“All students will be cleared to join various higher learning institutions to pursue careers of their choice in line with the government’s mantra of leaving no one behind,” Ogamba stated.

In the 2024 KCSE exams, 1693 candidates got Grade ‘A’ compared to 1216 in 2023.

A total of 246, 391 got Grade ‘C+’ and above with 476, 889 got Grade ‘C-‘and above while 605, 774 got Grade ‘D+’ and above.

The CS has promised to work with the various stakeholders to ensure the full implementation of the proposed reforms.

“I will work with the various stakeholders in the education sector to ensure the proposed reforms are implemented,” Ogamba said.

Further, the CS added that the ministry has introduced mid-year KCSE tests for those who wish to resit the exams or missed previously due to unavoidable circumstances such as sickness.

“Starting this year and following extensive stakeholder consultation, I wish to announce that KNEC will introduce a mid-year series of the KCSE examination. It will target candidates wishing to repeat the examination.” He said.

A total of 2829 results of candidates are being held to assess irregularities committed while a total of 840 were cancelled due to irregularities.

91 professionals involved in the exam irregularities will face disciplinary actions and will be charged in the law courts.

The CS stated that among the ways used in 2024 to curb malpractices are a new system new system where exam papers were customized for each candidate’s details.
