Former Kimilili Member of Parliament Suleiman Murunga is dead.
The former legislator died yesterday after a short illness.
Suleiman Murunga served as Kimilili MP between 2013 and 2017.
His death was confirmed by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, who condoled with the family and friends.
Barasa described Murunga as a true gentleman, whose absence will be greatly felt.
“My heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family and friends of Hon. Suleiman Murunga, former Member of Parliament for Kimilili and the former proprietor of Simmers. To my friend Kizito Temba and the entire Baliuli clan, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your uncle. Hon. Murunga was a true gentleman, and his absence will be profoundly felt. May you find comfort in cherished memories. Pole sana.” Barasa Condoled on X.
Other leaders including former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko mourned him.
“Rest in peace, my good Suleiman Murunga, former Mp Kimilili, and proprietor of our old popular Club Simmers.” he said.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula mourned Murunga as a dedicated leader.
“It is with profound sorrow and sadness that I express my condolences on the passing of Hon. Suleiman Murunga, former MP for Kimilili. His tenure from 2013 to 2017 was marked by dedication and unwavering commitment to the people he served.” He said in his condolence message.
“As a member of Ford Kenya, he not only represented his constituents with integrity but also played a pivotal role as the party’s Director of Elections, contributing significantly to the political landscape of our nation. Suleiman Murunga was a champion for the needs of his community, advocating tirelessly for development and social justice.” He added.
Wetang’ula said Murunga’s legacy will be remembered by many whose lives he touched through his service and leadership.
