Former Netherlands ambassador Lawrence Lenayapa is dead

Former ambassador of Kenya to the Netherlands and statehouse comptroller Lawrence Lenayapa is dead.

Lenayapa died yesterday morning aged 59.

In his condolence message, President William Ruto described him as a dedicated civil servant.

“My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Ambassador Lawrence Lenayapa who has passed away. The country has lost a dedicated public servant.” Ruto wrote on his X handle.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and their loved ones at this time. Rest In Peace, Lawrence.” He added.

Former treasury CS Ukur Yattani also mourned the Lenayapa.

“My condolences to the family of Amb Lawrence Lenayapa following his passing this morning. May Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace and give solace to the family.” He said.

The family has not revealed the cause of his death.

Lenayapa served as the comptroller from 2013 to 2018 when he was appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta upon assuming power and later as the ambassador to the Netherlands.

He also served previously as the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources.
