Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja joined President William Ruto for a church service at St. Joachim and Anna Catholic Church, Soweto Parish, in Embakasi East on Sunday.
Addressing the congregation after the service, Governor Sakaja encouraged Nairobi residents to enroll in the newly launched Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
He highlighted its significance as a key initiative under the Social Health Authority (SHA), spearheaded by President Ruto.
“SHIF is an opportunity to ensure everyone has access to the health services they need without suffering financial hardship. It will also enhance the delivery of health services in our hospitals,” Sakaja stated.
The governor also urged residents to exercise patience as both the national and county governments work to fulfill their commitments. “Let’s be patient. Let’s give our leaders time to deliver. Let’s maintain peace, unity, and shun tribalism for a better country,” he added.
At Governor Sakaja’s request, President Ruto pledged to rehabilitate the Area 17-Soweto Road and promised the construction of a stadium and school at Jacaranda Grounds to serve the local community.
Other leaders in attendance included Majority Leader in Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah, Nairobi Senator Karen Nyamu, and area MCA David Magoba, along with a delegation of Nairobi MCAs.
The service underscored the leaders’ commitment to addressing community needs and fostering unity among Nairobi residents.
