Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kihumbuini Sports Stadium in Kangemi Ward, Nairobi County.
This event marks a significant milestone in the long-awaited county project, indicating progress toward establishing a world-class sports venue in Westlands sub-county.
The Ksh.277 million project aims to benefit residents by providing improved training facilities and business opportunities, positively impacting livelihoods and community development.
“The stadium project will not only enhance sporting activities in the county but also unlock economic potential for local businesses and create employment opportunities for city residents,” Sakaja stated.
Area MCA Suleiman Maleya Hamisi expressed gratitude to Governor Johnson Sakaja for initiating the sports stadium in his ward. He urged the local youth to fully utilize the facility upon completion and seize opportunities during its construction to earn from their talents and secure employment.
“We have 40 football teams that will use the stadium once complete, including public schools in the area. It’s important to note that we lack any other quality stadium in the entire Westlands constituency, and I’m sure this project will create numerous opportunities,” Hamisi said.
