Kenya Urban Roads Authority Commits to Transforming Urban Mobility

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is intensifying its efforts to enhance urban mobility across the country.

Eng. Silas Kinoti, the Director General of KURA, emphasized the organization’s dedication to developing, rehabilitating, and maintaining urban roads, aiming to significantly improve the lives of residents.

“Transforming urban mobility is our utmost goal,” said Eng. Kinoti. “Collaboration with counties to fast-track infrastructural development across the country remains one of our key priorities in line with our mandate.”

KURA’s initiatives are not limited to major cities like Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu. The authority is actively upgrading and modernizing roads in all counties, ensuring that urban areas nationwide benefit from improved infrastructure. Eng. Kinoti highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards while expanding streets to accommodate both motorized and non-motorized traffic, making urban roads safer and more accessible for everyone.

“We will continue to implement ongoing road works as well as new road projects,” Kinoti stated. “We have reached out to other upcoming small towns and are improving access to major public institutions and other national strategic installations.”

KURA’s commitment extends beyond managing national urban road networks; the authority has a presence in all county headquarters and other major towns in Kenya. This widespread reach ensures that even smaller urban areas receive the attention needed to enhance their infrastructure.

Eng. Kinoti’s remarks underline KURA’s mission to support urban development through strategic road projects, aiming to foster economic growth and improve the quality of life for Kenyan residents.
