The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued a summon to Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa regarding chaos witnessed at a funeral in Limuru, where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was in attendance.

In a summon letter dated November 28, the Kiambu Senator will be appearing before the Nyeri Regional Criminal Investigations Officer (RCIO) today.

“I, Chief Inspector Joseph Chirchir, a police officer attached at DCI Limuru making inquiries into the alleged offense of malicious damage to property/injury to persons at Bibirioni Boys High School playground on 28/11/2024 at 1500 hours and have reason to believe that you, Senator Paul Karungo Thang’wa have information which will assist me with my investigations. In the exercise of powers conferred to me by sections 52(1) of the National Police Act No. 11A of 2011, I require you to appear before Nyeri RCIO on 28/11/2024 at 10:00 a.m. You are now compelled to attend before RCIO on 29/11/2024 at 10:00 a.m. without fail.” The Letter by the DCI read in part.

In response to the summon, Thang’wa claimed that he wouldn’t be intimidated but confirmed that he would honor the summons.

“They refuse to meet us at the CID headquarters on Kiambu Road but shamelessly summon us to Nyeri over an incident that occurred in Limuru. This intimidation will neither intimidate nor silence us. See you in Nyeri tomorrow.” He remarked.

Previously before the summon the senator claimed that it was an assassination attempt on the former deputy president
