In the early hours of the morning, Kilindini Anti-Narcotics officers successfully intercepted a cannabis trafficking operation.
The operation began at 1am, with the Kilindini Detectives trailing a suspect loitering at the Likoni matatu station, awaiting a delivery from Tanga, Tanzania.
At 6am, Collins Omondi received the parcel and discreetly placed it in his Subaru Treza, Reg. No. KDE 948E.
The officers, closely monitoring his movements, followed him to Fazuka Apartment Complex in Utange Solian. There, they arrested Omondi and conducted a thorough search of his vehicle. They discovered a manilla sack hidden beneath a pile of oranges, containing 14kg of dry greenish plant material suspected to be bhang.
With Omondi in custody and the evidence secured, Kilindini Detectives proceeded to the residence of Halima Masudi Hassan. Upon entry, they discovered an additional 12kg of bhang.
By 7am, while the city was waking up and businesses were opening, the Port Police Station had already detained two suspected traffickers, along with the seized cannabis and the Subaru used in the operation.

Police in Nairobi have launched investigations into the cause of the fire at the dormitory housing more than 80 students for Highway Secondary located in South B.
During the Wednesday night incident, no injuries were reported.
Nairobi regional Commander Adamson Bungei said the fire left many students at a loss adding that it is suspected arson.
“The biggest dormitory at the school was burnt down. We suspect arson but investigations are ongoing to get more information.” He said.
Bungei said that the fire brigade from Nairobi County arrived at the scene and joined in the efforts to contain the spread.
The affected students were moved to a different location for accommodation provided by the school.
Police and other experts visited the school on Thursday as part of the probe into the incident.
The management of the school this morning has held a meeting to discuss the way forward as the investigations go on.
In a separate incident in Lungalunga Kwale County, a motorist is counting losses after his car was burnt to ashes with seven sacks of charcoal he was carrying.
The motorist told police he had driven his Toyota Probox and securely parked it at Juakali Market with seven sacks of charcoal and then left for his house.
Later, he was woken up by his neighbors informing him that his vehicle was on fire.
Locals joined in efforts to contain the fire in vain. Police said the fire gutted down the car reducing it to a shell.
The wreckage of the vehicle was towed to the station for further police action.
Police suspect the fire was started by some of the charcoal that was hot when the driver carried the cargo.
