Kitui MCA charged for pretense while obtaining of car loan

A Kitui MCA has been charged with obtaining motor vehicle registration by pretenses contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code.

Ikanga MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka is suspected of having allegedly obtained the registration number KCM 760Z of a motor vehicle by pretending to be the rightful owner.

The lawmaker was also charged with an additional two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, two counts of forgery, two counts of uttering false documents and making a false claim by a person employed in the public service.

“Ikanga MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka obtained the registration number KCM 760Z by pretending to be the owner contrary to section 320 of the penal code. He has also been charged with two counts of forgery and two counts of uttering false documents,” the Director of Public Prosecution stated.

The DPP told the court that on the 12th of January 2023, at an unknown time at the County Assembly of Kitui in Kitui Township of Kitui County, as a member of the County Assembly of Kitui in a capacity that allowed him to claim a motor vehicle reimbursement, he claimed a sum of Ksh. 2,212,000 to be payable to himself, which he knew was false.

Appearing before Kitui Principal Magistrate Hon. Sindani, Kisavi pleaded not guilty to charges before Kitui and was released on a bond of Ksh.500, 000

The matter will be mentioned on March 16, 2025, for pretrial and further directions.
