Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has achieved a significant milestone with its sixth recertification of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS).
This accomplishment was marked by the presentation of the certificate to KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto by Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) Managing Director Ms. Esther Ngari, who praised KPA for its continued commitment to standardization.
Captain Ruto emphasized the importance of QMS in enhancing KPA’s quality standards, customer satisfaction, business development, and overall performance.
He highlighted that the certification demonstrates KPA’s robust and clearly defined procedures in areas such as risk management, document and data handling, environmental and climate sustainability awareness, and business continuity processes.
KPA’s journey to QMS certification began in 2007, achieving its first certification in 2009 under ISO 9001:2008. The Authority was recertified in 2012.
In 2015, the International Standard Organization revised the QMS standard to ISO 9001:2015, which KPA successfully transitioned to, leading to further recertifications in 2018 and 2021.
