LPG Lorry explodes near Fedha Estate Embakasi, residents evacuated

A lorry ferrying a tank of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)burst into flames near Fedha Estate of  Nairobi County.

The LPG tanker exploded near a bus terminal.

In viral Photos and video clips seen by Corporate Watch from the incident, a huge smoke engulfed the area at around noon.

Residents were also seen being evacuated from the scene.

The midday incident prompted emergency service providers to rush to the scene mobilizing those living near them to evacuate them for their safety.

Several area residents and business people could be seen milling around the scene.

The cause of the incident is yet to be established.

The Police said they were yet to establish if the driver of the lorry ferrying LPG was safe.

According to Nairobi Regional police boss Adamson Bungei the main agenda was to evacuate the area.

Bungei said the traffic flow on the road is  slow urging motorists to use alternative routes.

The fire incident comes months after another gas explosion happened in the Embakasi area.

The explosion which  occurred at a gas-filling Company  left several people dead and scores injured.
