Malawi’s President Assign Ministers to Represent Him at Military Crash Victims’ Funerals

Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu has announced that President Lazarus Chakwera, unable to attend all the burial ceremonies of the deceased on Friday, has assigned ministers to represent him at various locations, as reported by Winston Mwale, a Malawian Communication Expert.

“The government has arranged all necessary resources for the funerals,” Kunkuyu stated. “The president sends his condolences to all the families during this difficult time.”

On behalf of the Army Commander, Dan Kuwali confirmed that all deceased Malawi Defence Force officers will be laid to rest on Friday.

“Col. Owen Sambalopa will be laid to rest in Zomba, Major Florence Seleman Ngwirinji in Thyolo, and Major Wales Aidin in Mangochi,” Kuwali detailed.

Additionally, the former First Lady Shanil Dzimbiri will be buried with full military honors in Balaka on Friday.

The bodies of Lukas Kapheni, Guard Commander for the late Vice President Saulos Chilima, Inspector Chisomo Chimaneni, Aide De Camp for Chilima, and Daniel Kanyemba, a Medical Officer, will be laid to rest today in Kasungu, Ntchisi, and Lilongwe respectively.

Malawi Defence Force officers and  the community has gathered to pay their respects and offer support to the grieving families.

Malawi’s President and the government has pledged full support and resources for the burials across multiple locations.
