Kithimani Law Courts has sentenced a 41-year-old man to 29 years imprisonment for defiling his 12-year-old daughter.
The offence was committed on May 15, 2019, in Kithimani village, Machakos County when the father was alone at home with the victim while the other siblings had left for school.
After the incident, the father is said to have beaten the victim and threatened her not to report the incident to her mother.
In his defense, the accused claimed that he was set up because of a marital dispute with the victim’s mother.
Nevertheless, the presiding magistrate, Wechuli, dismissed the claims, ruling that the prosecution led by Fredrick Kimathi had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the accused had indeed defiled the minor.
The magistrate agreed with the prosecution’s argument that the father, who was meant to protect his daughter, had instead turned into the predator.
