Radio Africa Group Chief Operating Officer Martin Khafafa has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer.
The announcement was made today by Radio Africa Group Board of Trustees chair Kiprono Kittony during the farewell party of former CEO Quarcoo who retired effective July 24, 2024.
This comes after Founder and CEO Patrick Quarcoo retired from Radio Africa Group after 24 years of service.
Khafafa has been on an interim basis since the announcement by Quarcoo of his retirement.
In the announcement, Kittony said there were no major changes in the company.
“Martin Khafafa is now the new CEO beginning today and no other new changes in the management.” Kittony announced.
Kittony asked the staff at Radio Africa to support Khafafa as he takes over the new position.
Quarcoo’s retirement comes at a time when the media landscape is rapidly changing. At his retirement Quarcoo said, “As I retire, Radio Africa Group is entering a pivotal phase of its journey. This transition provides a unique opportunity for the company to realign its strategies, focusing on cost efficiencies, enhancing our profitability and content initiatives.”
Quarcoo thanked Radio Africa staff for their support and dedication throughout the years he has been in the company saying they registered tremendous growth.
“We have grown from a single-frequency radio station to a thriving group of six influential stations with over 40 transmitters across Kenya, with an expansion into Nigeria, a newspaper and a significant digital presence.”
He has been instrumental in growing its portfolio to six radio stations, a national newspaper, and digital assets reaching millions of Kenyans.
