By Shadrack Nyakoe

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya would be elected Nairobi Governor if elections were held today.

According to a poll done by Microtrak Africq, Gakuya emerged the first one after garnering 49 percent. He is followed closely by Embakasi West Mp Babu Owino who came second with 40 percent.

Westlands Mp Tim Wanyonyi came third with 5 percent with incumbent Johnson Sakaja coming distant 4 with only 3 percent.

Residents who were polled said they prefer Gakuya for being on the forefront especially on talking about issues relating to hawkers.

Gakuya has been on the record opposing eviction of hawkers from central business district.

Gakuya has also been vocal on issues of taxation.

For Sakaja, the poll says most city residents describe him as arrogant and corrupt.

His decision to lock out hawkers has also seen his popularity decrease.
