Lawyer Miguna Miguna has ranted over the change of bundles expiry date by Safaricom.
Miguna Miguna stated that he had bought the weekly package on May 16, 2024 and had expected it to expire on May, 23, 2024 only for him to receive a notification that it would expire tomorrow (May, 18, 2024)
The Canadian based lawyer termed it as ‘daylight robbery’ by the giant telecommunications company and that it is unacceptable.
“This is daylight robbery, by Safaricom . I purchased bundles yesterday. You told me they would expire on May 23rd. However, this morning, you have suddenly sent a message stating that they expire on May 18th, and I have barely used them. This is unacceptable.” He wrote on his x handle. https://twitter.com/MigunaMiguna/status/1791364267779739807?t=vtMTdfReVGElHaLnGGra3w&s=19
However, the lawyer came back after a few minutes saying the issue had been resolved.
He asked Kenyans on social media not to castigate him for buying bundles citing that notorious blackouts are what make him to use bundles at times.
He asked Kenyans to focus on demanding the reduction on charges.
According to Miguna, telecommunication companies in the country charge more than those in North America yet the American ones have better services.
” Kenyan companies charge rates that are much higher than their counterparts in North America, even though the latter provide better services. Let us focus on demanding reduction of charges.” He said.
He reiterated that it’s wrong for people to think he doesn’t need to buy bundles adding that millions of Kenyans suffer from poor services and are exploited with customer care services being of poor quality.
“The primitive belief that a lawyer shouldn’t buy bundles is unfortunate because it’s the more than 45 million ordinary Kenyans who suffer from poor services, exploitative rates and lack of quality customer care.” Miguna stated.
